Today was the first day of class with our new teachers. Yonsei KLI has this system where they switch the teachers around after midterms so we’re exposed to different teaching styles. At first, I was really skeptical of the idea b/c my first teacher 김태연 선생님 was really awesome. But after today, I am no longer skeptical, but completely sure that I hate the idea.
My new teacher (1,2,4) is on CRACK. Seriously, there is no other explanation for her bizarre ways:
- Shes makes that “X” motion with her hands 379847938475 throughout the class. I understand if she does it once or twice to emphasize grammar points but she does it for everything. I think she X’d me twice.
- Her movements are very umm… vivid. The way she points and moves is so sharp and out there. Just think “to the windowwwsssssss, to the wallsssssssss!”
- Instead of letting us read on our own, she repeats every single word we read right after we read it. It’s like an annoying echo you can’t get rid of.
- Those little dialogues at the beginning of every section are now the worst things ever. She makes everyone in class read out each sentence. It takes like 4 hours just to get through one dialogue.
Our reading teacher, on the other hand, is absolutely fantastic. She’s blunt but in a very caring away. I wish she was our 1,2,4 teacher. But we’ll see, it’s only the first day.
Here’s a recent picture of my class with our old teachers… during the happier days haha:
