Yesterday, I traveled up to Seoul to meet up with some people who I went to summer school at Yonsei University with back in 2009. It was sort of monumental and nostalgic since mid June was when I first came to Korea 2 years ago. The first area I stayed in was Myeongdong. Two years later, in mid June, I was back in Myeongdong to meet the same group of people. How awesome is that?
I took the 9:20AM KTX to Seoul & met up with Sarah in Gangnam. We had brunch at Butterfinger Pancakes. I was kind of upset they did not have the corned beef hash combo. After dining ourselves into the biggest food coma ever, we headed over to Myeongdong to meet up with Allen, who was in Korea for a week. Meagan (who also lived at I-House back in the day) also came out to hang out with us. The late arrival was Michelle lol. Strange that we live 45 minutes away from each other but never hung out until now. We walked around shopping & had budaechiggae for lunch. After that, we sat around reminiscing about the good old days at Yonsei University. I love how they still remember all the drama ahaha.
The day was awesome and exactly what I needed. I always feel a bit out of place while I’m in Daejeon… and I think it’s because I just miss the people I used to be around. Michelle and I talked about how bizarre it was that we were both back in Korea. Summer 2009 at Yonsei was what started everything. We pretty much fell in love with the concept of Korea & decided to move here after graduation. I look back on my days at Yonsei with fondness since I know that was where it all started. I hope I continue to keep in touch with these people.
