OMG today was the best first-day-of-the-term EVERRRRRR. Everything just went so well! Well, I’ve been doing this for 1.5 years, so it should go well hahah but anyways… My 1st class was my Seed1B class again. I had all the same kids with addition of Jenny from my Seedbed 2 class. They were all really happy to be back in my class. So happy that they got slightly rowdy, but I knew that rowdiness stemmed from excitement so I did not take away any points. My 2nd class was surprisingly good. I have Seedbed 1 this term… scary, I know. Despite the horror stories I’ve heard along with several shocking CCTV viewings, the class was I dare say, pretty good! Aside from the usual small outbursts of Korean phrases (which honestly, happens at every level & even I sometimes say them for humor), they were pretty well behaved. They all participated & they all responded to everything. Yea, they can’t really recognize some of the syllables, but they’re in Seedbed 1! They’re all adorable little human beings with sassy little personalities. If I could, I would put them all in my pocket & carry them around.
My 4 o’clock time block consists of Sapling 2A & Sapling 2B. I have most of my students from last term again. They all seem to be okay that they’re in my class again, especially my 2B class. It’s 8 girls & 1 boy! We were hoping that the boy would transfer out so we could call ourselves “Girls Generation” XD But there will be a boy in our class every Wednesday & Friday -_- Random, but it’s Korea & I work at a hagwon so I’ve learned not to question it. My 2B class consists of the usual suspects & Darren. I last taught Darren in Sprout 2 last Fall & he’s leveled up in record time since then. It’s strange because I still see him as a “kid” and he is in fact, still a kid (only a 3rd grader). Ehh, as long as they all do their work, I am fine with whoever they are.
My 6 o’clock is the absolute shining glory of my Monday-Wednesday-Friday classes. Junior Master 2 with 5 of the brightest girls at April: Cindy, Annie, Jenny(2), Carol, & of course, Esther. Esther was originally in T-TH but decided on her own to move to MWF to be in my class… what a BAMF! They’re all so wonderful and hardworking. And since they’re all girls, it’s easier to use KPOP and girly shit as examples. Today, we took one of those xanga surveys as a warm-up activities and they all have crushes! HAHAHA cutest shit ev4r. Since it was a 5-person class, we even got through 75% of the Creative Reading book… gawd I love this class so much. I want to have a photo shoot & make a bulletin board dedicated to just my Junior Master 2 girls.
Other than that, today was nothing new. This is the 4th time I’ve taught B track material with the exception of Seedbed 1 which is a new territory in itself. This was also the first day in 6 months where I did not have “Senior Instructor” duties. It was nice not having to answer any stupid questions & knowing I was not responsible for any fuck-ups. I still get random messages as if I am still in office but I’m nice enough to pass on the information… I’m not at the point of smirking yet… YET!
