<– April recently received a shipment of t-shirts from headquarters. Instead of using our own design, we’re now sporting universally-designed AIS t-shirts this summer. The whole staff wore it Monday as part of an “advertising” campaign. As you can see with the picture to the left, I looked more like one of the attendees… I plan on getting lime green sweat pants to complete the P.E. uniform look I’m sure they are aiming for.
AIS is starting up on July 23rd and I have no clue what is going on. No sign of schedules or anything. But this is normal since I work at a hagwon in Korea. Last-minute planning at the 11th hour really is the key to success. The front desk ladies showed me a poster they were working on yesterday. It was advertising this year’s field trip. We’re going to a cheese factory somewhere in the middle of nowhere. We’ll get to learn about cheese, make cheese, eat cheese donkatsu, visit a petting zoo, and go on water slides. If my mother is up for it, we will be attending. It could be fun… minus the children 😀
Other than waiting for AIS to start, I’ve been taking practice CBEST tests. I am definitely rusty when it comes to basic math -______- Writing and reading shouldn’t be too bad. I found out that test dates are only on weekdays for the South Korea testing center… I could take the 9:30am appointment but I don’t know if I would be back in time for work if I took all 3 tests in one day. The test fee itself is $101 (+$40 round trip KTX)… and I think I have to pay that EACH time I take the test. So if I spread out the testing to 3 sessions, my total would be $423… Fucking shit that’s expensive. My hope is that I can finish 3 tests in one sitting and still make it back to Daejeon in time for work… HMMM. Or I can offer to pay for a sub to be on stand-by should I happen to be late. I really want to take this test in early September… For now though, I will keep going through these practice tests. Then I’ll bring it up at work with the proper people if I really feel like making this happen. Oh hey, relevant life worries!
