This past week went by rather quickly. Except for Tuesday’s ER class with my ONE student… -_- An hour-long extensive reading class with one attention-needy girl. We are reading Mr. Popper’s Penguins, which is a great book. But damn, did they have to open the class with just one student? It was a pleasant week for the most part. My whole “let’s not freak out on the children and yell at them” routine is going great. I’m still stern when needed and I still discipline them if they get out of line. But I try not to yell too much.
PAST DORIS: AHHHHHHHHHHHH WHAT ARE YOU DOING? BWAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
NEW DORIS: Excuse me, I asked you to be quiet. So rude, so so rude.
It still works. And, I have a giant bag of gummy bears in the class now. Rudeness and obnoxiousness are grounds for no gummy bears. I’ve been enjoying my Junior Master 2 class more. They are awesome kids, most of whom I’ve taught since my first term here. I recently found some old thinking project videos of Charles <3 He was in my Sprout 2 class during my first term at April. And now, he’s in his last term at April before graduating.
In the words of Charles “WOW, what a big Pikachu!” Aww man, I’m definitely crying when this batch of Junior Master kids graduate – Clare, Lucy, Charlotte, Sarah, Charles, Tony, Jamie, Christine, and Linda.
In other news, there is only one week left before summer intensives start. I’m excited to be teaching intensives again since I was on vacation for the winter one. One thing I’m not looking forwards to — being at work by 9am. Whoever is making the schedule, please have mercy on me and only give me 9:30am classes two or three times a week. Last summer, I was one of the few that ended up with an early morning schedule 5 days a week. That sucked balls but at least Tuesday-Thursday classes were relaxing. We basically ate breakfast together and filmed poorly-rehearsed speeches. Good times with Charlie boo <3
I dyed my hair blonde today. This happens every year during summer. I also discovered hair chalk. I can now have rainbow unicorn hair whenever I want and it’ll wash off in the shower! YAY.
