Happy Foundation Day! Or in Korean, 개전철! Since I work at an elementary school hagwon, we had the day off 🙂 I didn’t do much since it is literally right before pay day, and as usual, my funds are low. Last night, I had dinner with Asuncion in Timeworld at 유가네. I absolutely love dak-galbi (닭갈비) but I don’t eat as often nowadays because I’m afraid of heartburn haha 🙁 But, I knew I was going to have Thursday off, so heartburn me away!
I love getting udon noodles and cheese rice cakes as an add-on. Mmmm… I really need to make 닭갈비 a regular part of my Korean meal rotation again. Today, I woke up early in hopes of going to the gym. 30 minutes before I was going to leave the house, Asuncion texted me and told me the gym was closed. Oh well, at least my intentions were good. I still headed out around 11am to meet up with Kristina and Michelle at the new kindergarten building. All I can say, HOLY….
The building is absolutely beautiful. It’s very modern, but it’s exactly what I imagined April to be when I first came to Korea. The classes are named after prestigious universities such as Oxford, Stanford, Yale, Berkeley… you know, all the schools that rejected me. There were these cute uniform options at the front desk as well as a huge auditorium. The best part were these two giant giraffes in the corner… clash of themes haha. I hung out with Michelle for a bit to see what the show was all about. Progress has definitely been made within the last week. Actually, everything only started within the last week. I’m a Michelle supporter and I will always be whether I work at this kindergarten or not. After hanging out for a bit and meeting some of the other staff members who will be working there, I went home to watch some TV.
I spent the evening walking around town with Asuncion since the weather was so nice. I’d like to take advantage of it before everything becomes miserably cold again. Now, I’m sitting at home listening to KPOP and avoiding the mess that is my apartment. Ooh, on another note, GONGCHA – the only legit boba joint in Korea – is opening up on the 1st floor of my building.
I now need to allot a boba consumption budget from my monthly salary.
