From October 3rd-6th, Daejeon held its 2nd annual Food & Wine Festival. Being a huge fan of Top Chef, I sort of imagined it to be a scaled down Koreanized version of the Aspen festival. And I was right! I paid the festival a visit on the 6th along with my friends Asuncion and Gaz. It was held at Expo Park, right next to the bridge. We weren’t exactly sure where everything was so we just followed the crowd of people. The idea was that you were to purchase a wine glass for 3,000won & that would entitle you to free wine samples throughout the festival.
We first walked through the outdoor part of the festival… the food part. There were tons of food tents up and running. From hotels, local restaurants, to just foreigners representing their country. They had a stage with performers and lots of picnic tables out for people to graze about. We ate dinner at the Australian tent which had fish & chips. After eating, we ventured inside one of the convention halls where the wine samples were taking place. I think since it was closing day, all the stalls were shutting down early. It was only about 5 o’clock but most of the stalls had already ran out. It was rather unorganized and maze-like inside. Gaz and I managed to get one sip of wine… -_- Overall, it was a pretty neat event. I just wish I went on Saturday when everything was still up and running.
