For the first time in forever….. I had a lazy weekend! I did go out for dinner with Richard on Friday night. We went our usual stomping grounds – Itaewon – for some Wang Thai. After wolfing down dinner, we wandered around the streets of Itaewon for a bit. It’s pretty happening there on a Friday night. Lots of cool places to hang… too bad I was dead tired and had no desire to hit the clubs. I did stop by the foreign food mart for some Costco butter hahaha. I need to start baking again.
Saturday was spent sleeping in because I now work mornings (and afternoons… and nights) on weekdays. After finally getting my ass out of bed, I headed off to Myeongdong for a much-needed manicure. I decided to get rid of the Hawaiian-like gradient nails and just go full-on glitter this time. It’s honestly much more fitting to my personality 🙂 I also made an attempt to visit the Bangsan baking market in Dongdaemun but that failed miserably since there was some Lotus Lantern Festival going on and that caused the majority of the shops to close. I had 곰탕 for dinner nearby and headed back to Myeongdong afterwards in an attempt to get my hair did.
I researched many hair salons before decided to visit Juno Hair 3 in Myeongdong. The most I’ve ever paid for a hair dye job in Korea was 180,000 won. And that was because this place back in Daejeon always overcharged… and it was because they had tone my hair as well as bleach it before getting the correct color on. I only wanted to dye my hair a plum/wine color this time around. Juno Hair 3 quoted me 330,000won… UMM NO! They said something about coating my hair to make the color more vibrant. Even then, I thought charging 330,000won was a bit ridiculous so I declined the treatment. I was willing to pay up to 150,000won for my hair that night. That price should’ve included a hair cut as well. I think I’ll wait and go to the 이화 area to get my hair done. I remember dying my hair at Salon 501 for about 30,000won. Prices are bound to be better around the women’s university area.
Today was spent inside (mainly because it was raining) working. I’ve been trying to get the debate blog up and running for about a month now. Yea… when you work 10+ hours a day, it’s hard to be ambitious about anything. But when I start something, I have to finish it. And I’m somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to media-related crap. I created a multi-site wordpress-powered blog for all my debate classes. I teach 7 debate classes in total. MAG 3 won’t have anything on the blog yet since they’re just getting started. But I’m hoping to use this more for my PAS classes, who could use the extra push to participate and find credible evidence. Once I get this site up and running, I’ll then have to maintain it on a regular basis. I hope it’ll take off and the kids will actually use it.
This week should be fun. I only work Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. I get Thursday off for Labor Day. I plan on going down to Daejeon to visit the April kids for a bit. Friday will be a chill day at work since we are having a Children’s Day event. After that, I’ll have a 4-day weekend! Yay for holidays!
