Since moving back to Daejeon, I’ve continued my monthly habit of getting my nails done. For some strange reason, getting my nails done in Daejeon is more expensive than doing it in Seoul. I think it has something to do with the lack of competition in Daejeon. In Seoul, I lived near a women’s university, so that must have contributed to the more reasonable prices. I’ve tested out a few nail joints around Daejeon (Cutix, underground Eunhaengdong, etc) but they were either A) too expensive B) not worth it C) both. Nail and You located in Dunsandong (right off City Hall Station, above Angel in Us Coffee) is the only place I can trust for now.
This nail salon is fairly new and extremely clean. It has a separate manicure and pedicure station. I think they also do eyebrow waxing, tanning, and eyelash extensions. The prices are decent as well. You get a better deal if you sign up for their membership which starts at 200,000won. In Korea, a “membership” really means that you prepay for 200,000won worth of services. Each time you get a manicure, they will subtract that amount (at a discounted rate) from your 200,000won. For example, if I wasn’t a member, a gel manicure would cost 60,000 won. But since I am a member, it only costs 50,000 won. They will then only subtract 50,000 won from my 200,000 won.
This time around, I opted for some super summery colors. If you want shiny glitter colors, there is usually an extra charge. I picked neon orange for my toenails and American glitter for my hands. The total bill was 130,000 won including the gel removal fee.
