It’s the last month of the year! 2015 is rapidly coming to an end and I have no clue where all this wind/cold/snow/rain came from. I mean, sure, winter wonderland all the way, but damn. It does not need to be this cold.
December will be a fairly busy month, but I am okay with that. More idle time makes me question my decisions. I have a wedding to attend along with my friend Asuncion’s annual Christmas party. Then there’s work-related stuff such as report card deadlines, monthly tests, and preparing for the ever-so-dreadful intensives (happening in January).
In work-related news, my Junior Master 2 class won best debate for fall term. We upload our work to Creative Cafe, which is kind of like our own Youtube system where kids get to vote for their favorite videos. It’s nationwide for all the April schools. My kids placed 1st among hundreds of other kids, so well done young grasshoppers.
I feel closure now. I am super competitive so I always make an effort to make these weekly projects extra fancy. Since 2011, I’ve (or I guess my students haha!) won for Seed 2, Sapling 2, Sprout 3, Seed 1, Seedbed 2, and now Junior Master 2. Since the new sketchy debate program started earlier this year, it was hard teaching the kids HOW to actually debate because we were always pressured to have some sort of presentation ready for the camera. The winning debate (modern medicine vs. traditional medicine) was one of those days where half the class was absent and we just gave up on the presentation. We actually sat down and had a real debate. Worked out well for them 🙂
