April was obviously a failed month for blogging… For the handful of people who still keep up with my uneventful life… sorry!^^
April was a very successful month at work, at least in my opinion. Just a year ago, I was freaking out about teaching ECP6. I didn’t know shit! This year, I’ve decided to take a more chill approach to teaching. These kids are literally 4 years old. EVERYBODY NEEDS TO CHILL OUT. I’ve been taking it slow and enjoying my time with the Zebra class. They are absolutely fantastic! They went from speaking 98% Korean to speaking 98% English. I literally cry every time I think about how much progress they have made. Maybe it’s the luck of Maple classroom, but I’ve been blessed with having really great students for the past two years. And many years before that! But these past two years have really been something. I feel that if you just love the kids and respect them, everything will be fine. They might even learn a little bit of English along the way.
Martha is leaving at the end of May… that’s the nature of this job. You sometimes make great friends, and the ones you tend to bond with the most, eventually leave. But, I have faith that Martha will find her way back to Korea one day after she finishes school. Who knows, we might even end up at the same school again.
I need to start saving money for my trip home this summer as well as my planned nose job sometime this fall or winter. I’ve been asking for money-saving advice from my friends, and I plan to use the best tips from each person to maximize my savings. Depending on how well I can save, this will happen in either October (Chuseok vacation) or February (Lunar New Year vacation). Either way, I’m really excited for this to finally happen.
